Columbia, South Carolina (WBTW) – “The Day to Live on the Notorious Day” is back on the other side of the country.
Almost 20 South Carolina men died in the attack on Pearl Harbor when the bomb was dropped on Hawaii just 80 years ago.
The sculptures at Memorial Park on Hampton Street, Colombia, commemorate those killed and surviving in the attack. The monument bears 25 names, some of which are linked to North Carolina and other states.
About 2,400 people were killed in the attack, including about 50 civilians. Half of them are onboard the USS Arizona, with more than 900 people buried to date.
